Create Intranet User Groups, Community Groups, Project Groups, & Custom Zones to Suit Your Needs

Intranet zones, one type of Intranet group, can be created by each department depending entirely on the custom requirements of the group.

With Office Ability there are a few different types of 'groups'. First, you can set user permissions by group. Different user groups have access to only those areas that are assigned permission. The ability to work within these areas is also controlled by permissions (e.g., read-only, create, edit, upload).

Intranet Groups & ZonesGroups can be created for employees, administrators, & managers on a variety of levels. Permissions to access various Intranet areas can be customized using these group settings. Being able to control permissions lets a company maintain security of its information, retain privacy and confidentiality where required, and still allow access to anyone that will benefit from the Intranet environment.

Office Ability Intranet will be installed with standard permissions settings and we will provide support to help you create your user accounts and permissions. This can be done when setting up your Intranet and does not need to be a manual process. For a few users at a time, accounts and permissions are easily set from the administration control panel.

Networking Groups

The Facebook-like feature contained in Office Ability is another powerful way to use groups. Any number of groups may be created, whether for members of departments, committees, clubs, or project teams.

Others in the Intranet community can request to join groups and interaction within the groups can be left public or made private. Network groups are a great way to build teams, work as teams, and to get involved in the the activities of an organization.

Project Groups

The Project Ability management tool is another way to manage groups within the Intranet.  Users may create project work groups that are only accessible by for the members of the group.

There is also an ability to create custom groups within projects, assign those users that should be a part of the groups, and also set permissions. Project Ability can also be integrated with the Networking Groups described above.

Custom Zones

Creating custom user zones is quite different. Group zones allow different groups / departments / teams to create their own unique area within the Intranet.

Perhaps the concept can be likened to little intranets or websites within the bigger intranet system. The ability to create these areas encourages groups to become involved in the Intranet and to get excited about creating their own unique presence.

You will find that the User Zones will encourage groups to closely examine their own processes and discover creative & effective means of interacting with the Intranet community.

Once the Group Zone has been planned and mapped out, the Group area can be developed right from the Administration panel. Depending on how simple or complex the Zone pages become, our technical support team is ready to help.
